Research Background:
Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino-acid peptide corresponding to the N-terminal fragment (residues 1-29) of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). This region retains the biological activity of the full-length hormone. Preclinical and in vitro research has investigated its binding to the GHRH receptor on pituitary somatotroph cells, including downstream cAMP signaling and regulation of growth hormone gene expression and release. Laboratory studies have also examined its short plasma half-life and susceptibility to enzymatic degradation by DPP-4, which has made it a reference compound in studies of GHRH analog stability and receptor pharmacology.
