Research Background:
Thymosin alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid, N-terminally acetylated peptide originally isolated from thymic tissue and corresponding to the N-terminal fragment of prothymosin alpha. Preclinical and in vitro research has investigated its interaction with Toll-like receptor signaling, including TLR2 and TLR9, and its effects on dendritic cell maturation and antigen presentation. Laboratory studies have also examined its role in T-cell differentiation and in the regulation of cytokine expression in cell culture and animal models. This compound is supplied exclusively for research purposes and is not approved for human use by the FDA.
